Writing Seminars alumni Jami Attenberg and Porochista Khakpour have been longlisted for the 2025 Joyce Carol Oates Prize by New Literary Project (NewLit). The annual $50,000 award honors “a mid-career author of fiction in the midst of a burgeoning career, a distinguished writer who has emerged and is still emerging.” Both Attenberg and Khakpour have served as judges of The Hopkins Review‘s Stephen Dixon Fiction Prize in recent years.
Past winners of the Joyce Carol Oates Prize include Writing Seminars faculty member Danielle Evans.
