The Hopkins Review has been named among the short list of finalists for the 2025 Firecracker Awards granted by the Community of Literary Magazines & Presses, in the “Magazines – General Excellence” category. The Firecracker Awards are “given for the best independently published books of fiction, creative nonfiction, and poetry and the best literary magazines in the categories of debut and general excellence” and honor “the books and magazines that make a significant contribution to our literary culture and the publishers that strive to introduce important voices to readers far and wide.”
Previous magazine winners and finalists include Words Without Borders, POETRY, One Story, Kenyon Review, Tin House, Prairie Schooner, New England Review, the Oxford American, ZYZZYVA, Georgia Review, Virginia Quarterly Review, and American Poetry Review.
The winners of this year’s Firecracker Awards will be announced on Thursday, June 26, and “will be featured in a national publicity campaign that includes promotional materials distributed to over 750 independent booksellers across the country in coordination with the American Booksellers Association.”
