Aleyna Rentz, M.F.A. ’19, Wins First Place in the Pleiades Realistic Fiction Contest

The Writing Seminars is happy to announce that Aleyna Rentz has won the R.M. Kinder Award for Realistic Fiction for her story, “Cottonmouth”. She will receive $1,000 and publication in the Winter 2020 issue of Pleiades. 

Aleyna Rentz is a fiction writer from rural Southwest Georgia, where she grew up with her six brothers and sisters. Her fiction, poetry, and essays have been nominated for the Pushcart Prize and the Best of the Net Anthology; she also won third place in Glimmer Train‘s Jan/Feb 2018 Short Story Award for New Writers. She currently serves as senior fiction reader for Salamander Magazine and is a reader for the Wigleaf Top 50.
